Music for Seniors
If you’re looking for a show that’s full of fun and invites audience participation…
Music for Laughs is what I call the show I perform in different settings, including at Club meetings, Over 55 Communities, Senior Centers, Assisted Living, Independent Living, Acute Care, and Memory Care Units.
I also perform room to room "strolling" music which is actually one of my favorite ways to connect through song. People have often told me that my short musical visit made their day better and brighter. Sometimes the music can have a soothing effect on an agitated resident (I’ve been told that my voice has a soothing quality although I can rock out too!) I wear a portable microphone and speaker to help those who are hard of hearing enjoy the music more.
In addition to the above, I am also available to play music for parties and special occasions. I have played for anniversary parties, holiday parties and even a Marilyn Monroe themed party on her birthday wearing a white dress and blonde wig! (Incidentally, she was born on June 1, 1926). Believe it or not, I once played for a 110th Birthday Party at a senior facility!! It was lots of fun and also an honor to play for an amazing lady and all those who came to celebrate her.
My Goal
My goal is always to lift spirits and get people singing, clapping, tapping toes with the music, and having a few laughs along the way. Depending on the setting, I find something humorous or interesting to share, often associated with the time of year or holiday.
I play a mix of tunes including familiar songs and funny originals on guitar and on my beautiful Zebrawood ukulele. The ukulele as an instrument has the unique ability to instantly lift your mood with its sweet, lilting sound.
